Top 3 yoga poses for children's heart health

Since 1963, February has been celebrated as American Heart Month to urge Americans to join the battle against heart disease.

Yoga and heart health go hand in hand, as yoga is designed to bring about increased physical, mental, and emotional well being.

Yoga can help the heart by
  1. lowering blood pressure
  2. increasing lung capacity
  3. improving respiratory function and heart rate
  4. boosting circulation and muscle tone
  5. managing stress

Top 3 yoga poses for children's heart health:

  • Cobra pose (Bhujangasana). This posture opens the front of the heart.
  • Balancing Stick pose (Tuladandasana). This postures stimulates blood circulation and the cardiovascular system, strengthens the heart muscle and increases lung capacity. It also helps clear out deposits in the arteries, making it excellent for preventing potential heart disease.
  • Ragdoll pose (Uttanasana). This posture opens the back of the heart as well as stretches the spine where the cells of the nervous system are located, allowing for the nervous system to be stimulated.
